There are many purposes for educational leaders to use blogs. Enhancing and improving communication is an often repeated goal of many educational leaders. This seems to be a never ending task. School Districts have a wide ranging group of stakeholders with a vast array of purposes for gaining information.
Blogs can be used to share information with groups of administrators, teachers, parents, or community members. They can be used for as many purposes as there are for traditional communication, but can be accessed by the intended audience at their convenience. Leaders can post new information and share it with the intended audience. The audience can then follow the blog and post questions or comments. This allows the communication to go both ways. Leaders share the information with stakeholders and the stakeholder, whether they are district employees, parents, students, or community members, can communicate back. This allows real communication rather than communication that is broken and doesn't fit the needs of the audience.
It is really easy to set up a blog. You can go to a free blog hosting site such as this one: www.blogger.com and set up the blog. The appearance of the blog can be customized by using a variety of template tools. Pictures can be added and settings can be changed with the click of a button. These tools allow the blogger to create a truly custom form of communication.
This is my very first blog. Hopefully, I will soon be an expert at using this tool.
Good job! I agree with your thoughts on how educators can use blogs.
